SOUTH DEVON FOR SOUTH POOL HARRIERS,DOUBLE BUBBLE BIDDICK AT BUCKFASTLEIGH

Another weekend of point to point action, and my first visit to Buckfastleigh for the South Pool Harriers meeting.
Late arriving (The first race already going to post as i got out of the car) and missing 3 pony races in heavy ground 111 entries of a card of six races waited before me.

Halfway through the card already, for the Totnes & Bridgetown mixed Open for the West county Champion Chase

The gremlins got into the recording equipment and after talking the winner Rye Cross and Sam Jukes into the winner enclosure.
an interview with Sam

was totally inaudible (sorry Sam, the smile though is better than a thousand words)
But I did remember a few things the jockey said about the 11 year old out from the Emma Alvis yard.

Sam Jukes on Rye Cross
He mentioned he really liked this horse and was hopeful that a good run would see him thereabouts.
He felt the three time winner this season at Wadebridge already, Sobre Tresor  was his danger. But also recognised good horses in the field such as Dicky Bob (2nd)
Sam on five winners, this making his sixth of the season mentioned he was having good start on nice horses.
Asked about Chaseforgold who is trained and owned by the same team, Emma Alvis trainer and Mr C J Bennett owner as Rye Cross in this £1000 total prize funded race, who finished third a last weekend at Chaddesley after  back to back wins in November and January, he mentioned.
We were a little concerned with the ground last weekend but he just didn't feel 100% on that day. He seems well enough at home at the moment so we will have to see how we go from here.
