NO P2P ACTION ON THE SUNDAY FOR #POINTINGPODCAST SO WE DO A BIT OF HUNTER CHASING INSTEAD

Unioniste
With my intended trip to the Waveny Harriers meeting at Higham abandoned due to frost, I decided a trip to Fontwell park was in order
( Blog of which can be read at WWW.MJAYPHOTOGRAPHY.CO.UK)

Not only a cracking hurdle race in the Game Spirit Hurdle a feature of the season at the course. Also not only for a four timer from champion trainer under rules Paul Nicholls.
But, The totepool Open hunter steeplechase over 3m 2f to have look at the 25/1 pre race priced for the Cheltenham Foxhunters, Unioniste, trained by Paul Nicholls and ridden by David Maxwell

Listen above to an interview with David Maxwell after the race.

TIM'S TWO STARTS AND FINISHES AS BARBURY FINALLY GETS IT ON,

With 33 entries for The rearranged Vine & Craven Hunt point to point meeting at Barbury and with an early course inspection, this time due to frozen ground than that of wet ground, the meeting finally got the green light. Put back an hour to a 12.30 start the lack of runners and racegoers did not reflect in what i though was a quality card. With a main race that saw the running of a Foxhunters at Cheltenham contender run his last prep race before the big day, the seven races on the card looked an intriguing one.

The first race The Jamie Snowden racing PPORA club members conditions race for novice riders saw Templepirate take the race by a head from David Brace's Pink eyed Pedro.
Templepirate
I chat to the winning jockey for the first time Craig Dowson, and to someone we spoke to a fair bit last season trainer Tim Underwood.

The second race the nine runner 2m 4 f open maiden for 4,5 & 6 year olds  saw the trainer/jockey combination of Peter Mason bring home Wick Green by a neck from the Andrew Quick trained Dissertation.

The penultimate race saw four to post for the 2m 4 f Conditions race for mares and fillies.

This was won by Follow the Paint from the Laura Horsfall yard, Johnny Bailey replacing the injured Brodie Hampson in the saddle.
