FINAL DAY AT ROYAL WINDSOR HORSE SHOW 2015

Another fine day to end the 2015 R.W.H.S. Bumper crowds, good competition mixed together with good weather and the memories of a good week, make for a tinge of sadness as i walk off the ground for the final time this year.

The shopping village attracts many for it's varied selection of equestrian and fashion merchandise.
Everyday i saw bags and bags of tack, hats and a few bizzare items walk out of the ground with new owners.

SPRINGTIME SHOWERS HAMPER THE SECOND DAY AT R.W.H.S.2015

If there was a Ying and a Yang in equestrian weather. The first days sun was the Ying and today, was the Yang. Rain, rain and a bit more rain went on throughout the majority of the day.
The day started overcast, but did not dampen the spirits of some of the participants.

This polo horse winning the polo horse class, a half bred thoroughbred, who is related to the great showjumper Milton, takes the honours in his class.
And as you can see below was the apple of his breeders eye.

Showing and showjumping continued in the rain, as nothing stops this superb springtime international event

Also the novelty classes seem to continued going

Riding for the disabled fancy dress

American Light Trades Carriage championships

Pony Club Mounted games

Musical Ride of the Household Cavalry

But also some serious stuff with the CD13 Grand Prix Dressage.

START OF A BIG EQUESTRIAN WEEK IN WINDSOR

Monday, middle of May, and a big week in the royal Windsor week for horses.
To start with a quality racing card at royal Windsor racecourse, which entertained it's first listed race of the season.

This eveings racing I spread my time between the start and the finish. I wanted to get the explosive and tense atmosphere of a start of the race, and the burst opening of the stalls as the horses get on their way

I then wanted my usuale shots of a finish. Close up action, and the feel of how close the jockey gets to the horse s he drives home for a win or place.
Miss Moneypenny and Richard Hughes

Good bright and dry weather meant for some atmospheric shots in some cases, and as for the listed race. The team of Hughes and Hannon, brother  and brother in law. took the honours, with Shifting Power.
Is this a horse we could see to victory at Royal Ascot in June?
