START OF A BIG EQUESTRIAN WEEK IN WINDSOR

Monday, middle of May, and a big week in the royal Windsor week for horses.
To start with a quality racing card at royal Windsor racecourse, which entertained it's first listed race of the season.

This eveings racing I spread my time between the start and the finish. I wanted to get the explosive and tense atmosphere of a start of the race, and the burst opening of the stalls as the horses get on their way

I then wanted my usuale shots of a finish. Close up action, and the feel of how close the jockey gets to the horse s he drives home for a win or place.
Miss Moneypenny and Richard Hughes

Good bright and dry weather meant for some atmospheric shots in some cases, and as for the listed race. The team of Hughes and Hannon, brother  and brother in law. took the honours, with Shifting Power.
Is this a horse we could see to victory at Royal Ascot in June?

2014-15 FOOTBALL SEASON FINALE WITH A DOUBLE HEADER

Two games to deal with this weekend. First one with Ascot Utd Ladies 1st team, home against Andover New street Ladies.

A busy game, goals both ends. But as a photographer a bit of a headache. With eithier bright bright sunshine or cloudy dark overcast the F stop on the camera was going up and down like no ones business.

More images as usuale of this game can be seen on my website                          WWW.MJAYPHOTOGRAPHY.CO.UK

Then onto Bank Holiday Monday, a trip to the Loop meadow stadium in Didcot Oxfordshire for the final of the Hellenic league Blue fin cup final.
This being the second season i have covered the final, and as luck would have it, with the same two teams playing for the season end trophy.
Ardley Utd FC Vs Ascot Utd FC

As i have been official photographer to Ascot Utd the past few seasons i was hoping for another repeat performance from my 'home side' and more cup glory.
But, as history repeats itself in some directions, in others it turns the other cheek.
This time Ardley taking the trophy home

As always, images from all 1st team games, both ladies and Men's are availble on my website

A CHILLY SPRING ROYAL WINDSOR RACING MEETING 27-4-15

The earlier barmy warm spring weather behind us. Warm summer sun in front, I took to the Windsor racecourse (the first for me this season), evening racing meeting 2015.
Fair fields, stong runners and a royal runner were on the menu.

Suprise Call
The overcast dull evening did not really help with the photography as the meeting went on, but a wonderous sunset capped off the evening well.

ASCOT UTD LFC VS MARLOW LFC 26/4/5

Some more football for you, this time in the shape of Ascot utd Ladies 1st team.
This season i have been following them in the majority of their home games

This time though with an added bonus that the visting side Marlow LFC took to the game knowing a big scoreline would help the goal difference and give them promotion
The score 7-2 to Marlow.........
So let the celebrations begin

LAST LEAGUE GAME OF THE 2014-15 FOOTBALL SEASON

The last Hellenic league game of this season was an evening affair, between Reading Town and Ascot united.
Light not really on my side, even with flodlights on. So images in the second half a little on the dull side.
The season has been a good one, not many shoots were it has been too cold or wet to be out, and i have been lucky enough to have been to some really nice venues.

I have had good coverage throughout the season. And dependant where Iam next season i hope that continues. One more game to go, the Hellenic Bluefin sports challenge trophy Ascot Utd Vs Ardley Utd

Now though onto the horses. Racing at Fontwell and Windsor, also the Royal Windsor horse show in a few weeks.

Please remember all Ascot Utd home and away games images can be seen at

MYSTICAL MULLINS HAS VISITORS

A beautiful spring morning to visit the mystical Wiltshire hill sides, and the small village of Wilsford-Cum-Lake. The location of Wilsford Stables, HQ of Seamus Mullins Racing.
View from Seamus Mullins Wilsford Stables gallops

Having been to many yards and visits in my time, this was one yard you could feel at home with straight away. The calm that hit you as soon as you stepped in was not only shown by the welcome you had from trainer and stable staff alike, but most importantly by the horses to.
It was at this time, whilst chatting to the Assiatnt trainer Paul Attwater, my memory was jogged that i had worked with Seamus before. Long ago, at the stables of Jim Old in Dundry Bristol. Seamus the jockey then, and myself new into the racing industry.

Seeing the horses canter up the inclined all weather surface to it's pull up point overlooing stonehenge.

View from the gallops pull up point overlooking stonehenge

Then watching the horses school as a string.

This truely is a Mystical and enchanted place to train and the best way to spend a fine spring morning.
